Day CCXCIV

Good Things Happen

When you do good things for people, heaven seems to pay you back. I hadn’t been in the area for a while, and when I stepped outside, I noticed a brand new store opening up across the street. I’ve always had an eye out for flying banners, and bunting, because it means a new store. So as Gus waited for the doctor, I crossed the street, and asked for the manager.

“Hi is the owner or manager in,” I asked as I gave the lovely young lady my card.

She took my card, looked at me, and said:

“I’ll be right back,” as she gingerly vanished behind an old, and very dirty paint tarp. A short moment later...

“Watcha gots?” A young guy asked as he stepped out from behind the same old paint tarp.

“I have a line of silver bangles, and I also carry a cool line of petite tops.”

“Sounds great to me dude, but my wife ain’t hea, and I don’t really like making decisions on stuff when she’s not hea.”

     “When will she be hea?”

“Tamarrah, if ya can come ina aftanoon…after two, it would be cool.”

“So I’ll call ya before I show up?”

“No need dude, we’ll be hea, just come on ova.” He smiled, and disappeared behind the tarp.

Now that was real cool, I had just made another contact, which I wouldn’t have, if I hadn’t been there for Gus. For a moment I felt a slight urge to light up, and when I went over to the deli, for a nano second I almost bought a pack of butts. But thank God I prevailed, and instead I got us got some java, a couple of doughnuts, and the News. When he saw me, he smiled, and grabbed the paper.
