Day CXLlll

Taxes, taxes, taxes

Tears were running down my eyes, and for the first time, I realize how bad it is on the other side of the equation. It was just as bad as my pal’s newspaper butt- annoying, and painful.

     “Ah ha ha ha!”

The guys laughed, as l chocked on their smoke. No compassion! That is just plain evil in my book. Not long after the city passed the no smoking ban in public places, a bouncer was killed in a bar or restaurant in Chinatown over a butt. The bouncer threw the guy out because he wouldn’t put out his smoke. He came back with a gun, and shot him dead.

How can we let nicotine have such a strong hold on our  soul…ourselves- us? I don’t believe in banning it, because prohibition didn’t work either. This is a personal control issue, and each one of us has to work that out. If you don’t believe dying from emphysema is a horrible ordeal, go to any hospital, and check it out. Take a look at folks that didn’t give a damn, and smoked because they wanted to, and nobody was going to stop them.

Our nicotine Jones has created a black market for smokes in N.Y.C. The cost of butts is so high here, that peeps drive down south, and bring them back for a fraction of the costs. Meanwhile, politicians whine about how these peeps cheat tax payers out of revenue, and they keep raising the tax on smokes.
