Day CCCXXIX

Suckers

What ever happened to serving the community? Someone once said, “Find a need, and fill it!” Those words are one for every zero in a million dollars. Find a need and fill it, well it seems filling needs is no longer needed to make money.

These things annoy us, and so we reach for a smoke. Another thing is Soccer, it bothers me too. You need permits to get kids practice time on city fields. There were occasions when we had a hard time chasing soccer groups out, so our kids could play. They didn’t have permits and refused to leave. We had to resort to calling the law, which took a long time, and it cut into our practice time. That happened a lot! Those suckers are growing in America, they’re everywhere, and sometimes they’re a pain in the arse. P.T. Barnum once said:

     “A Sucker’s born every minute!”

     Well he was so right,

“A Soccer is born every minute,”

and I’ve often thought of printing a Tee with a “Soccer is born every minute,” on it.

Another thing that gets me, and a lot of people stressed out is the abuse we baseball fans keep getting. I know it’s a business, but fans keep getting shafted. The markets are protected from all kinds of scams. Well, most of the time, Bernie Madeoff showed us that is not always the case. Baseball is our freaking pastime, yet the commissioner allows Madison Avenue to call the shots for commercials, all the damned time. Aren’t the muggings at the box office enough? Truly, We should all get pissed, and ask for government protection. After all consumers of every other kind get protection. Why not us?
